About this gig
I can compose a wide variety of different genres for your video game, movie, book, comic, or similar artistic project. I am the most passionate about intense, unique, energetic music (check out my battle theme gig!), but I have extensive practice composing slower, flowing, and emotional pieces as well. I have a unique polyphonic style of composing that tends to interweave several complementary melodies together to create a more powerful, complex, and interesting sound. The genres I compose most effectively are:

Ballroom dance foxtrot/quickstep
I can also arrange existing music as well, even if no sheet music exists of it yet on the internet.
Our workflow will first consist of a Noteflight musical notation score, through which you can monitor my progress and listen to an audio preview of the music I am composing. During this stage, I will collaborate with you closely to make sure the score is developing as you envision it.
If you wish to upgrade the sound quality, I will then move the Noteflight score into my DAW and upgrade/mix the sounds.
I can also coordinate and organize live online musicians if you commission them with your budget.

Before I was a composer, I was a writer. I crafted dozens of stories and developed hundreds of characters, which I used to express my thoughts and feelings for any given situation. In fact, the main reason I composed my first-ever original theme--I remember the specific day, November 9, 2011--was because I had not been able to properly express the nature of my characters and stories just through what I had written. I wanted other people to connect to my ideas through a more 3-dimensional experience, and I have discovered that music can make stories and characters instantly more relatable.

FAQ
Do you charge extra to arrange existing music?
Nope! I request the same base rate for Noteflight quality or upgraded arrangements. I am quite accurate with my arrangements, by the way! I have been training my ear for many years. Let me know if you would like to hear some examples of my arrangement work.
Do I need to purchase a commercial license for your music?
If you use my music in a project that you will generate revenue from in some way, then yes please :). This does not apply to free games w/out ads, unmonetized YouTube channels, community performances, etc. Instead of paying my license fee, we can instead negotiate royalty payments if you wish!
Who owns the rights to the music you compose for me?
You own partial rights that let you use the commission for any personal project (or commercial if you include that add-on). I also share ownership rights of the music commercially and personally, which means that I may upload your commission to my YouTube channel, etc. (See "exclusivity" FAQ).
How does your live musician/singer gig work?
With my premium package, you essentially hire me to be your musician/singer expert researcher, communicator, coordinator, and manager. I will give you choices and suggestions, I will write sheet music for whomever we choose to sing/play for us, and then you reimburse me for their commission costs ♫.
Will you write music with lyrics?
Yes, I can also write lyrics to go along with your commissioned music, as well as a matching vocal melody.
Why do you have such a long turnaround time for your commissions?
I work full-time as an English teacher in a public high school GT program, so especially over the school year, my composing time can stall out if I hit a busy point in the semester. In the summer, I have a much quicker turnaround time. However, I always provide drafts and previews along the way :).
What "upgraded" music software do you own?
I currently utilize Mixcraft8 (Daw), EWQL Symphonic Orchestra silver, EWQL Symphonic Orchestra gold, EWQL Symphonic Choirs (with lyric vocalizers!), Aspire Congas, and Heavier7Strings. I have been practicing with each of these programs for years, so I am quite adept at manipulating them!
How "exclusive" is the music you compose for me?
As part of my service, I compose a unique "musical production" for your project. I may occasionally utilize public-domain beats, rhythms, melodies, and harmonic progressions as a base or template, but the composition, mixing, and combination of elements as a whole is uniquely crafted for you alone.
