Each genre has its own special tropes and conventions. Developing a romance, YA, or fantasy book doesn't just mean crafting a fantastic story, but honoring the genre-specific elements readers love, and doing so in a fresh, innovative way.
Do you beta read novels other than romance, YA, and fantasy?
Yes. If you are writing fiction or memoir, you're also welcome to order this gig.
Do you edit non-fiction?
I specialize in narratives, or manuscripts that follow a story. Many projects I edit are non-fiction; particularly memoirs, or books based on true stories. Having said that, I don't edit-self help, textbooks, or other non-narrative works. Confused? Feel free to send me a message about your project.
Why does your beta reading cost more than others?
This gig is advertised as 'beta reading' because that's the term most writers are familiar with. However, a more accurate description would be editorial development. The process is more intensive, detailed, instructional, and solutions-based than standard beta reading.
