About this Gig
I am a huge fan of contemporary fiction and an amateur novelist myself. I'll be honest and sincere, but all with the aim of helping you produce a manuscript that you'll be proud to share with not only family and friends but also the world.
I accept drafts in MS Word and deliver an approximately 1250 word report that covers my holistic evaluation of the text and the phenomenological experience of reading it and specific comments about tone/mood, setting, pacing, character, plot, style, and grammar. I can also answer an author's pre-set questionnaire, if they prefer.
If you have a file in format other than MS Word, please contact me before purchasing the gig to work out an appropriate arrangement.
Pricing and gig-length reflects the length of your novel. I do not offer in-line comments on the manuscript at a set price. If you are interested in this service, please contact me beforehand.

Are there genres of fiction that you do not accept?
I do not beta-read erotica, dream sequences, or any text that propagates hate. I reserve the right to cancel any order that I deem falls into these categories. Ask first.
Do you accept memoirs?
Sometimes. Ask first. The kind of feedback that they require is very different.
Will you deliver in-line comments on my manuscript?
My comments on a first read-through are not kind, constructive, and inspiring. They are notes for my report and would need extensive editing to both make sense to another reader and be helpful to an author. I can offer in-line comments on a text on an ad-hoc basis. Please ask for a custom offer.
Do you read manuscripts that are part of a series?
Yes, but unless you have purchased the beta-read of the preceding books or included their summaries in the word count for your order, your manuscript will be treated as a stand-alone tale.
