FAQ
Will Alexa recognize everything the user say?
No. We have to train Alexa with the questions we want to recognize, this is the purpose of an interaction model, that requires intents and utterances. The more utterances we add, the better, as we will improve Alexa's recognition towards our skill.
Can we test the skill before it's LIVE in the store?
Yes! We can use the beta test feature of the Developer Console to share the skill while in development to any number of Amazon emails.
Am I charged for creating a skill in the Amazon Developer Console?
No. We can create as many skills as we want in the Developer Console.
Am I charged for hosting the code in AWS?
Yes! But the first year, AWS offers a free tier in several of their tools, specially Lambda, DynamoDB and S3, which are the most common tools to use for creating Alexa skills. Also, after the year, the charges are really really slow.
Will Amazon pay me for my skill?
It depends on how popular your skill becomes among users. Amazon has an algorithm based on number of sessions, number of users, number of reviews, the higher these numbers, the higher the probability Amazon will pay you for this skill.
