FAQ
Which iPhones support the Action Button?
The Action Button is available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer models. On other iPhones, I can set the shortcut up on the Home Screen, a widget, the Lock Screen, Back Tap, or Siri instead.
Can the shortcut run in Control Center on macOS?
Yes, on recent macOS versions that support Shortcuts in Control Center and the menu bar. I’ll confirm compatibility with your macOS version first.
What logistics tasks can a shortcut handle?
Delivery status updates, check-ins and check-outs, mileage and fuel logging, photo and signature capture, location sharing, and alerts to dispatch.
Can it scan barcodes or QR codes?
Yes, using the iPhone camera and Shortcuts’ scanning actions. For high-volume warehouse scanning, a dedicated scanner app may fit better, and I’ll tell you honestly.
Where does the data go?
To the tools you choose, such as Google Sheets, Airtable, Slack, SMS, or your own system via webhook or API.
Can it capture location?
Yes. Shortcuts can attach the current location to a log or message. iOS will ask for location permission, and I’ll set it up to respect your privacy settings.
Will it work when the phone is locked or offline?
Action Button and Control Center shortcuts can run from the lock screen, though some actions may need unlocking. Sending data needs a connection, and I can design the shortcut to warn the user or save a note when offline.
Can I deploy it to my whole driver team?
Yes. Premium includes a rollout guide so each driver can install the shortcut. Shortcuts are installed per device, so for large fleets I’ll note the best distribution approach.
Do I need a paid app or service?
Shortcuts is free on Apple devices. Any connected services, such as Airtable, Twilio, or Zapier, may have their own plans.
