Selling on Amazon, Shopify or eBay and your Xero never matches what the platform says it paid you? That's normal. Payouts arrive net of fees, refunds, ads and reserves, so the bank deposit never equals your sales.

I'm an accountant and I reconcile Amazon payouts every month for product brands across the US, Canada and Australia marketplaces, in Xero.

What I do:

1. Take your settlement or payout reports and your Xero file.

2. Record each payout properly: sales, fees, refunds, advertising and reserves, through a clearing account.

3. Match every payout to the bank and explain any difference, usually timing across month end.

4. Give you a short summary: what came in, what the platform kept, and your real margin.
