I'm a beta reader, not an editor. Beta reading focuses on the STORY (does it work? where does it lose readers?), while editing focuses on language mechanics. Think of me as your ideal reader who can clearly explain what's working and what needs adjustment!
What qualifies you to critique my manuscript?
Great question! I'm a voracious reader (200+ books/year) with training in story structure and narrative craft. I approach manuscripts with both a reader's emotional response AND analytical skills. Plus, as a newer beta reader, I bring fresh eyes without industry biases that can make feedback stale.
What genres do you accept?
I specialize in Romance (contemporary, historical, paranormal), Fantasy (all subgenres), Thriller/Mystery, and Young Adult. These are the genres I read most, so I know reader expectations. If yours isn't listed, message me—I'm open to discussion!
How detailed is your feedback?
Very! You'll get chapter-specific notes with examples. Instead of "pacing issues," you'll see: "Chapters 7-9 slow because the B-plot takes focus. Consider condensing to 1.5 chapters or interweaving with the main conflict—see specific suggestion in full report."
Why should I hire you over more experienced beta readers?
Excellent question! Here's my honest answer: Fresh perspectives catch things "experienced eyes" miss. I'm not jaded by industry trends or stuck in "this is how it's always been done." I read YOUR story, not my expectations. Plus, I'm building my reputation, so I over-deliver on every order!
Do you check grammar and spelling?
If I notice consistent issues, I'll mention them generally, but that's not my focus. Beta reading is about story-level feedback. For line editing, you'll want a copy editor (which I can recommend if needed!).
How fast is delivery?
Standard delivery: Basic (5d), Standard (10d), Premium (14d). Need it faster? Add Express Delivery to cut time by 50%! I pride myself on meeting deadlines without rushing quality.
Will you sign an NDA?
Absolutely! Confidentiality is automatic, but I'm happy to sign your NDA for extra peace of mind. Just attach it when ordering or message me first.
What if I don't like your feedback?
Totally fine! My job is to share a reader's honest perspective. YOU'RE the author—take what resonates, ignore what doesn't. Every suggestion is optional. Also, I offer revision rounds to clarify anything confusing.
Do you offer refunds if I'm unsatisfied?
I stand behind my work! If you're not happy with the quality, message me immediately so we can resolve it. I've structured my service to ensure satisfaction, but if there's a legitimate issue, we'll work it out—including refunds as a last resort.
