Retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent Rae et al. will investigate suspicions of fraudulent PPP loan activities that have taken away the opportunities for small businesses who were in dire need. Mr. Rae spent a majority of his time at the FBI investigating white-collar fraud.
According to the New York Times, it is estimated that at minimum, 15% of PPP loans were fraudulent and given to those with greedy ambitions while restaurants and retailers had to shut their doors. Investigating this waste and abuse of the system is very personal to Mr. Rae and the Department of Justice.

If we deem the suspicion is of merit, we will submit that complaint on your behalf anonymously with supplemental attachments of our findings to the SBA's Office of the Inspector General. The FBI, IRS, the U.S. Attorney's office, their employer (e.g. instances where loans were taken out under full employment). We will even report to the local and mainstream media. After all, most fraudulent recipients of these loans often enjoy the spotlight so we're actually doing them a favor.
Do you have active investigations relating to PPP fraud?
Yes, we do. Several. They're ongoing and in progression. The Justice Department is even prosecuting many fraudulent loan applicants who never received funds. The size of the loan amount doesn't matter - the OIG and DOJ are going after everyone and they've expanded their investigative capabilities.
I think I lied on my SBA loan application, should I be worried?
Yes. There are grave consequences for falsifying documents & lying on a loan application. A person who knowingly makes a false statement or overvalues security or collateral in order to obtain an SBA loan or influence the SBA to make a loan commits a two-year felony subject to a fine of up to $5,000
What if I filled out a SBA loan application, exaggerated a little, but never got funds?
You've still broken the law and there will be penalties to pay. The selfishness of those who defrauded their fellow Americans during one of the most unprecedented times of great suffering during the height of a pandemic has caused many struggling (genuine) businesses to shut their doors permanently.
