I will convert your XML wordpress backup file into a docx file
About this Gig
WordPress is, without a doubt, the platform that carries our words on the Internet. Since 2009, I have been publishing my texts using this system and, in 2019, I decided to transform my almost two thousand posts into a book. But how can I do this without having to copy and paste hundreds of archived pages with my texts?
That's when I developed a system capable of transforming the XML files exported from WordPress into simple HTML, with the post titles in H2, the publication dates in H4 and the texts in pre-formatted content (exclusively because of the poems), merging my three blogs into an output sorted by date, from the oldest texts to the newest.
Today, my almost 700-page book is published, and I have never needed to use my system again. But if this possibility of transforming any text content entrusted to WordPress into an editable document makes your eyes shine, I am at your disposal.
Please note that I will deliver the editable file in a very raw format, but with the possibility of styling each of the three levels of the document (H2, H4 and PRE) in the text editor of your choice. In addition to the DOCX file, I will also deliver the generated HTML as an original file.
FAQ
Will you layout or format my book?
No. I will give you an editable text file and an original HTML output.
How do I provide you with the WordPress export file?
Go to your WordPress blog dashboard and choose Tools, then Export, then Export All (or click the down arrow next to Export All, and choose Posts to not export Pages).
If I send you my blog address, can you convert it?
No, because to transform your blog texts into an editable document, I need the XML file exported from within the blog panel.
WordPress generated a ZIP file for me. Can I send it to you?
Yes, the XML file with your blog texts is inside the ZIP file. It's okay to send me the ZIP file.
Can I send you a Blogger export file?
No, because my conversion system was developed to understand the data schema only of the XML generated by WordPress.
Will the advanced formatting of my text be maintained?
No. The editable file generated will contain the texts free of additional formatting, but with the title of each publication as a size 2 header and the date of each publication as a size 4 header to facilitate the styling of the document as a whole.
Can I request that the date of each text be omitted from the output files?
Yes, date and time in YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS format can be completely suppressed from the result.
