What is RAG and how is it different from a normal chatbot?
RAG stands for Retrieval-Augmented Generation. Instead of relying on generic AI knowledge, the chatbot retrieves specific information from your uploaded documents before generating an answer. This means it answers questions using your actual data - pricing, policies, product details, FAQs - not made
What kind of documents can the chatbot be trained on?
PDFs, plain text files, Word documents, and Google Docs exports work perfectly. Product manuals, FAQ pages, knowledge bases, legal documents, and service descriptions are all common sources. I will handle the parsing and embedding process for you.
Do I pay for AI API costs?
Yes, you bring your own API key from whichever LLM provider you choose (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Mistral, or others). I do not cover usage costs, but I will help you set up your account and estimate your expected monthly spend based on traffic.
What technology stack do you use?
Next.js 14, Tailwind CSS, Supabase with pgvector for the vector database, your chosen LLM via its API, and the Vercel AI SDK for streaming responses. Fully custom-coded - no third-party chatbot widget services.
What is NOT included?
Copywriting for the website, logo design, photography, and domain registration are not included. You will need a free Supabase account and a free Vercel account - I will set both up during the project.
How does the chatbot stay up to date if my information changes?
On the Premium tier, I include a simple admin upload panel where you can add or replace documents without touching code. On Basic and Standard, you would message me or follow the documentation I provide to re-embed updated content.
Who owns the code and the chatbot data?
You own 100% of everything - the website source code, the vector database (on your Supabase account), and all uploaded documents. There are no platform fees, no subscriptions to me, and no lock-in of any kind.
