You've spent months living with your characters. Now you need to know what it feels like to meet them for the first time.
As a fiction writer myself, I know how valuable an honest outside perspective can be. I will beta read your manuscript as both an engaged reader and a fellow writer, providing thoughtful, constructive feedback while respecting the story you're trying to tell.
My reader report can cover:

I personally enjoy reading character-driven fiction, romance, fantasy, and contemporary fiction in my free time, but I also have experience beta reading mysteries, science fiction, and horror. I'm happy to explore other genres as well.
My goal isn't to rewrite your story into the one I would have written. It's to tell you honestly where I connected, where I didn't, what stayed with me, and where your manuscript could become stronger.

What will I receive with my beta read?
You'll receive a reader report with honest, constructive feedback on areas such as characters, plot, pacing, dialogue, emotional impact, readability, and my overall experience with your manuscript.
What genres do you beta read?
I'm especially interested in romance, contemporary fiction, LGBTQ+ fiction, upmarket, YA/New Adult, and character-driven stories, but I'm open to any other fiction genre too. Feel free to message me if you're unsure!
Is beta reading the same as editing or proofreading?
No. Beta reading focuses on the reader experience and bigger-picture storytelling rather than correcting every grammatical or stylistic issue. I will point out some issues I notice if they affect the reading experience, but this gig is not a substitute for professional editing or proofreading.
Will you tell me if you dislike something?
Yes, kindly. My feedback is always honest and constructive. I'll tell you both what worked for me and what didn't, explain why, and respect that the final creative decisions are yours.
Is my manuscript confidential?
Absolutely. I will treat your manuscript as confidential and will not share, reproduce or use your work outside of completing your order.
What are in-line reader reactions?
If selected as an extra, I'll leave comments throughout the manuscript showing my real-time reactions as I read—where I'm excited, confused, emotional, surprised or particularly invested.
What format will I receive my feedback in?
You'll receive a written reader report as both a PDF and editable DOCX file, clearly organized into sections covering my overall impressions, characters, plot, pacing, dialogue, emotional impact, strengths, and areas that could be developed further.
What format will I receive in-line reader reactions in?
If you purchased in-line reader reactions, you'll also receive your manuscript back with my comments throughout.
How long will my reader report be?
Report length will depend on the manuscript and package, but you can generally expect approximately 1–2 pages for Basic, 2–4 pages for Standard, and 4–6+ pages for Premium. I prioritize useful, specific feedback over filling pages for the sake of length.
Can I ask you to focus on something specific in my manuscript?
Absolutely! If there's a particular element you're worried about—such as worldbuilding, character chemistry, plot logic, or whether a specific aspect feels believable—let me know when you place your order. I'll pay extra attention to it while reading and dress it in detail in your report.
