I will write your standard operating procedure or associated documentation
About this Gig
Most SOPs are written by someone whose job is producing documents, not doing the work they describe. You find out which is which at 2am, when something goes wrong.
I spent over two decades running safety and security-critical operations - as Head of Terminal Operations at a major international airport, and also as a senior operations leader within the utilities sector. I've written the procedures, and trained both management and staff on them.
What you get:
A clean, structured instruction or procedure written in plain English. Procedures will be delivered with role definition, step-by-step actions, decision points, escalation triggers and reference to any other required internal documentation that you advise.
The document will be delivered in Word format so you can maintain it yourself.
I work from whatever you have, whether it be an existing draft, a recorded walkthrough, a set of notes, or even just a conversation by message. I don't need anything formal.
Particularly experienced in terminal operations, ground handling, slot management, incident response, safety management and workforce capacity vs demand.
FAQ
What counts as a revision?
A revision means refining the delivered document — wording, structure, level of detail, or corrections. If the scope changes after delivery, such as a different process, additional procedures or a new format, that's new work and I'll quote it separately.
What do you need from me to get started?
Whatever you have. And existing draft, notes, a recorded walkthrough, or just a description by message. If you're not sure where to start, I'll send you a short list of questions and we can build it from your answers.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. I don't divulge, share, publish or reuse any client material, and I'm happy to sign an NDA before you send anything. Operational documents can be sensitive and I'll treat them that way by default.
Can you follow our existing template or company style?
Yes. Send and example of a document you already use and I'll match the structure, numberin terminology and any other elements so it sits alongside your existing set.
Will this satisfy our audit or certification requirements?
I write to a clear, quality auditable structure. What I can't do is guarantee an audit outcome, since that depends on your full management system. Tell me the standard you work to and I'll write with it in mind.
Can you update and existing procedure instead of writing a new one?
Yes, and it'd often quicker. Send me the current version and tell me what needs to be amended, or what isn't working.
Do you only write for aviation and utiliites?
No. Those are where my operational experience is deepest, but procedural structure translates across industries.
