I will proofread your book manuscript
Copyeditor and Proofreader: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, and More
About this Gig
I have over ten years of experience providing proofreading services for book manuscripts.
Proofreading is generally the final step in the editorial process, taking place after copyediting and formatting/typesetting. The proofreader serves as a final set of eyes to catch any remaining errors.
- A final check for any typos that made it past the copyeditor
- A final check for any formatting errors that made it past the typesetter
Standard proofreading consists of two passes through the manuscript to maximize the odds of catching every issue. However, I also offer a 'half proofread' of a single pass for those with a tight budget. This is a faster and less expensive option, but with the added risk that some typos might slip through.
Please note that the time to complete listed on these packages is based on the base level of 10,000 words (20,000 words in the case of the premium package), and that longer manuscripts may require more time to complete. Please contact me directly to receive a more accurate time estimate for longer manuscripts.

FAQ
What genres do you specialize in?
I specialize primarily in fantasy and historical fiction. However, I have worked on books in a wide variety of genres, so by all means feel free to come to me with other kinds of manuscripts.
What English dialects do you proofread?
I'm American, and thus primarily work in American English. However, I have also worked on manuscripts written in British English without issue.
What style guides do you use when proofreading?
I use the Chicago Manual of Style for the vast majority of my work, and it's the style I'm most familiar with. However, I'm also familiar with the AP, APA, and MLA style guides.
What file formats do you work with?
A proofread-ready manuscript will generally have gone through the full formatting process, and so should be in a PDF format. However, I'm also comfortable working in Word, Google Docs, and Apple Pages.
