About this Gig
This gig is for romance novels between 10,000 and 100,000 words. For works that are less than 10,000 words or exceed 100,000 words, please contact me to discuss. Please read the entire gig description before placing an order.
I'll focus on proofreading for:
- Spelling
- Grammar
- Punctuation
- Phrasing
- General Readability
If there are issues with tense (ie. past vs. present), I will directly fix the first ten (10) instances. After that, I will note the issue for you to fix.
Services NOT included: Content Development or Copy Editing. Your work should be very close to being ready for publishing. If you are unsure, please message me before placing an order and we can determine your best options for success.
I'll provide two documents - one with tracked changes and one clean, with changes incorporated.
Please keep in mind - since I proofread on my own, without the use of any electronic services, there is always a chance I may miss something. I'm good, but I'm not perfect. And I'm happy to work with you on revisions, if needed.

FAQ
I have not worked with an editor. Can I still place an order for proofreading?
I always encourage authors to work with an editor prior to proofreading. Editors and proofreaders provide different services and while a proofreader may be able to make editorial corrections, that is often outside the scope of their work. If you’re unsure, please contact me prior to ordering.
My romance novel has some “spicy” content. Are you comfortable with that?
As a proofreader who works exclusively on romance novels, I have come to expect almost anything in terms of content. While I always recommend using content warnings, the only content I refuse to work on is explicit content involving minors.
My manuscript exceeds the 100k words limit set by your premium package. Can I still place an order?
Yes! If your work is over 100k words, please contact me directly for a custom offer.
My manuscript is less than 10,000 words. Can I still place an order?
Yes! If your work is under 10k words, please contact me directly for a custom offer.
I generate my manuscript using AI. Can I still place an order?
If you are using AI to generate ideas, sure. If you are using AI to create the bulk of your story, I would prefer that you didn't. AI-generated manuscripts are often disjointed, mixing up characters, losing plot lines, and creating new, unrelated plot lines, which require significant editing.
I need my manuscript back sooner than 14 days. Can I place a rush order?
Possibly. Depending on my current workload, I may be able to offer rush service for an additional fee. Message me with your specific needs.
Do you use any editing software?
I do not. I proofread each manuscript 100 percent by hand. I will, however, run text through an AI detector if I suspect it is written primarily through AI.
