I got sober in AA in 2006, even though I have always been an atheist. Many non-religious people feel unwelcome in 12-step programs because of the focus on god or a higher power. But I got sober in Brooklyn, where most of my peers were not religious, and as a result, I had ample support and models for building a sober life without belief in a deity. As a founder of BroomfieldCoaching.com I offer sober coaching with a secular focus.

If you're trying to stop drinking or using drugs but you're turned off by the religious aspects of 12-step programs, I can help you. I believe that the 12-step community and the 12 steps offer essential tools for overcoming our problems, but that atheists need support in using them.

This is not sponsorship; people should never be paid for sponsorship. What I offer is a way to understand the disease of alcoholism, the 12-step program of recovery, and the 12-step fellowship from an atheist, agnostic, or non-religious perspective. You will be able to participate in meaningful recovery without compromising your beliefs (or lack thereof).
