I've worked up a brief crash-course regarding the often menacing topic of Tone in Writing, particularly in fiction and creative writing. What do we, as writers, want to do? Persuade! We're either persuading our readers to believe us or to inhabit the world we've created, if only for a brief time. The result can be an incredibly powerful experience.
Each page focuses on one aspect of introducing tone, with the series progressing from real-life examples to niche fiction situations. The top of each page provides a commentary, lesson, or introduction to focus participants on the angle of the short exercise questions that follow. Expected time of completion for the whole packet: 30 minutes. Whether you're new to this writing thing or you're looking to practice your grasp of tone in a refresher course, these exercises are built to retrain your eyes to see how tone impacts all communication.
