Have you shared your book with family & friends only to receive silence? Or maybe they told you how great the story was but didn't give helpful criticism. I've been there. Finding good feedback is no easy task.
As your beta reader, I promise to thoroughly read your book and provide detailed, honest, and actionable feedback in a timely manner.
You'll receive in-line comments throughout your manuscript with my immediate reactions as a reader. I'll laugh during the parts I find funny, root for your protagonist, and highlight descriptions that make me feel like I'm living in the story world. I'll also help catch inconsistencies and anything that might be confusing. Along with the comments, you'll receive a 2 to 3 page report with my overall feedback on topics such as:
- Plot
- Characters
- Pacing
- World-building
I know how intimidating it is to share a story you've poured your heart and soul into, so I try to frame my feedback in a way that is meant to motivate an encourage.

What types of stories do you read?
All kinds! Urban, epic, dark, contemporary, I read them all. I love anything dark & twisty, and I'm a sucker for gothic, atmospheric vibes. But I also enjoy fairy tale retellings & all sorts of other stories, too. *** I do not read stories with Christian or real-world political themes. ***
What qualifies you to beta read my book?
I've been a fantasy reader for decades, so I'm familiar with the tropes, archetypes, and expectations. I'm also a writer and developmental editor specializing in the genre, so I know how to give helpful feedback. :)
What if my story has triggering content?
That's okay! I have no triggers that I'm aware of. I will read it and offer my honest opinion.
What is the difference between a beta read and a developmental edit?
Beta reading provides feedback from a reader's perspective. What did I find funny, sad, or frustrating? Developmental editing is much more in-depth. It is meant to elevate your story & guide you through revisions.
Do you accept custom word counts?
Of course! Just send me a message and I'll create a custom offer.
What documents do you prefer?
I work exclusively with Word (.docx) for the track changes and commenting features.
