I will build a custom excel construction estimate and job costing spreadsheet
Custom Excel Tools for Contractors and Technical SEO for Small Business
About this Gig
Still running jobs out of a messy spreadsheet, a whiteboard, or your head?
I build Excel estimating and job-tracking systems for contractors and small trade businesses, set up with your own labor rates, price book and job types. $95 fixes your current sheet; full systems start at $295.
What you get:
- An estimate builder that prices itself, and a clean quote that never shows your costs or margin
- A job tracker from quote to paid: status, payments, balance due, past-due alerts and profit per job
- Checks that flag bad entries before they reach your totals
- Plain-English instructions, protected formulas, and a file you own. No subscriptions
- Premium adds change orders, a job cost log, estimate vs actual, and a recorded walkthrough
Every workbook is tested against real scenarios before delivery.
Background: 15 years in power-plant construction, commissioning and test engineering, tracking hundreds of work items to turnover. Navy nuclear veteran. I also run my own online retail business.

FAQ
Which Excel do I need?
Desktop Excel. The workbooks are built and tested in Excel for Windows. The optional button macro runs only in Windows desktop Excel. Google Sheets is not supported.
Will you load my prices?
Yes. Standard includes your settings, labor rates and up to 50 price-book items; Premium loads your full list and runs one of your past jobs through it as a check. After delivery you update prices yourself, which the workbook makes easy.
Can you fix my existing spreadsheet instead of starting over?
Yes, that is the Basic package. If the fix turns out bigger than two tabs, I will tell you before starting.
Do you use macros?
The workbooks are macro-free. A one-click button that records a sent quote is available as an extra.
Does it handle sales tax?
You choose the tax basis on each estimate (materials only, labor + materials, or none). Tax rules vary by job and state, so confirm the right basis with your CPA.
Does it handle progress billing?
It tracks one invoice per job. If you bill in stages, message me first and I will quote a custom version.
Will it work with QuickBooks?
I can set up an export layout that matches your QuickBooks import format. A live automatic sync is a separate project, so message me first.
