Your home or small office network is probably one flat network where every device laptops, phones, smart TVs, guest devices can see each other. That's a real risk. I design and configure segmented networks that keep your important devices isolated from IoT and guest traffic, set up a private VPN for secure remote access, and add DNS-level filtering to block malware and tracking before it reaches your devices.
This work is done remotely via screen-share, so we can walk through your existing setup together and I can make changes live, explaining everything as I go.
FAQ
Do I need to buy new equipment for this?
Not necessarily. Many setups (VLANs, DNS filtering, VPN) can run on hardware you already own, especially UniFi gear. If your equipment can't support it, I'll tell you upfront what a reasonable upgrade looks like. You're never obligated to buy anything through me.
How does the remote setup actually work?
We connect via screen-share (Zoom or similar) and I walk you through changes live on your own device, explaining each step so you understand your network afterward, not just handed a black box.
Will this disrupt my internet while you're working?
There may be brief interruptions (a minute or two) during router or switch changes, similar to a firmware update. I'll flag anything before making a change that could cause a longer disruption.
What's the difference between the packages?
Basic is an audit only: I review your setup and give written recommendations, no changes made. Standard adds hands-on VLAN and DNS setup. Premium adds a full VPN server, documentation, and 30 days of follow-up support.
Do you need admin access to my router?
Yes, temporary admin access during our session is required to make changes. I recommend changing your admin password afterward if you have any concerns, standard practice for remote network work.
I don't have UniFi equipment. Can you still help?
Yes. The concepts (VLANs, VPN, DNS filtering) apply to most modern router and firewall platforms. Message me your equipment model before ordering so I can confirm it supports what you need.
