About this gig

Hi, I'm Jon a guitarist with over 20 years of experience as both a touring and studio musician. This gig is geared towards electronic music producers who want live, organic guitar tracks to add a human touch to their tracks. I've worked in many genres like: Pop, House, Nu-Disco, EDM and Hip Hop and more. I can recreate guitar riffs from old recordings or come up with unique rhythms, melodies and motifs.
I mainly record with a 1980s Hondo Stratocaster, upgraded with vintage Fender pickups to nail those classic 70s and 80s funk and disco tones - Nile Rodgers style.
This service has been used to support legendary artists like Robin S. and Siedah Garrett (backing vocalist for Michael Jackson).
I'm also well-versed in various rock subgenres, so if you're looking for something distorted, fuzzy, or heavy, let's rock

I do custom orders so reach out with your needs and I'll happily provide a quote
Can you recreate guitar parts from old recordings?
For sure! I can generally figure the chords out by ear and replicate them as close as possible.
What if I need several layers of guitar?
For something like that I'd start by picking a section of the song and adding a few part. We'll have a bit of a dialogue and figure out the creative direction. Once we're on the same page I'll do the full song and we'll revise as needed.
What makes a sample different from a guitar performance?
With electronic music when everything is quantized to a grid it makes sense to have the imperfections of a human performance be more controlled and less varied throughout the song. Imperfection is human though, so it's important to know when to leave it in to make it feel vintage.
