About this Gig
MEMOIR AUTHOR
Your story matters, but knowing your manuscript needs work and knowing how to fix it are two different things.
If your pacing feels slow, chapters lack flow, emotional moments feel flat, or your story isn't connecting the way you imagined, my memoir developmental editing can help.
As a memoir editor and developmental editor, I focus on the bigger picture: story structure, pacing, narrative flow, emotional impact, character development, readability, and consistency while protecting your authentic voice. I specialize in memoirs, trauma memoirs, healing journeys, recovery nonfiction, and personal life stories.
MY OFFERS
- Manuscript critique covering strengths, structure, and areas for improvement.
- Targeted feedback directly in the manuscript
- Clear, actionable guidance on what to revise, why it matters, and where to start.
Unlike proofreading, I don't simply correct grammar and spelling. Unlike beta reading, I go beyond reader reactions to identify underlying story problems and provide practical guidance for revision.
I will strengthen your memoir without losing the heart of your story

Do you preserve my voice?
Yes, I never rewrite or impose my style. My goal is to strengthen your story while keeping it 100% yours.
How is developmental editing different from beta reading?
Beta reading focuses mainly on the reader's experience and overall reactions. Developmental editing goes deeper by identifying underlying story and structural issues and providing actionable guidance to fix them.
What if I’m not ready for a full edit?
Message me, we can start with a sample edit on the first few chapters.
What do you need from me before starting?
Please provide your manuscript or sample, word count, chapter outline if available, and any specific concerns or goals you have for the project.
How is developmental editing different from proofreading?
Proofreading focuses on grammar, spelling, punctuation, and surface-level errors. Developmental editing focuses on your manuscript's structure, pacing, story flow, emotional impact, and overall effectiveness.
