FAQ
What IS Mastering ?
Mastering is a final stage of production - AFTER mixing - to prepare audio for release. The main goal is to ensure that the audio playback is well-balanced in tone and volume to optimize clarity across a wide range of playback methods.
What is a DDP File ?
Disc Description Protocol is a format for specifying the contents of a CD. It's an archive containing everything that goes onto a CD including audio, track layout, CD-TEXT meta-data, and more. A DDP file is a complete copy of the CD, suitable for electronic delivery to replication houses.
What is an ISRC code ?
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a unique international identification code for your recording. They are widely used by digital distribution companies (like iTunes, Spotify, etc) to identify recordings and track royalties.
What are the vinyl "side" files you offer?
Often when sending a project to get lathe cut or pressed for vinyl, they'll want the album as 2 separate audio files (1 for each side) with markers for the lead in grrove, each track start, track spacers, and lead out groove. (Instead of just sending them individual files for each track.)
Why do you make CDs for album projects? No one uses THEM anymore!
CDs may not be as popular as they were, but are still pretty common for bands selling merch at shows, etc. MORE IMPORTANTLY though: They're a great way to archive your project and provide extra backup-security -- hard drives crash, files get erased, etc., but the CD will still be readable in 20yrs.
