Editor, Beta Reader Offering Constructive Fiction Feedback for Authors
Level 2
Has met high performance criteria and has a proven track record for meeting client expectations.
About this Gig
Your opening chapter does the heavy lifting. It sets the tone, introduces your voice, and determines whether a reader keeps going or quietly puts your story down.
But after revising it over and over, it can be tough to experience it the way a new reader will.
Thats where I come in.
I will read your first chapter (up to 3,000 words) and provide focused, constructive feedback on:
- Hook and first impressions
- Clarity and readability
- Pacing and engagement
- Character introduction
- Tone and narrative voice
You'll receive clear, actionable insights on what works, what might lose reader interest, and how to strengthen your opening for maximum impact.
Why work with me?
I'm a published author with years of experience in storytelling and editorial feedback. I know how to balance honesty with encouragement to inspire you to reimagine your manuscript's opening. If you want to make sure your story starts strong, why not begin by getting real reader feedback?

FAQ
Why only the first chapter?
Your first chapter is everything, to a reader, a literary agent, and a publisher. It's also everything to you, because that is where your story begins. Once you have a solid first chapter, everything else becomes clearer. It's also a great test if you're on the fence about a complete Beta Read.
Are you the right fit for my genre?
Short answer: probably. I enjoy most genres of fiction, and being a journalist and a naturally curious person, I have delved into non-fiction about everything from magic tricks to the American healthcare system. Feel free to send me a message and we can talk more about your specific project.
