My name is Julio Arvellos and I'll use my scientific and design background to create great illustrations of your work and research!
I work with 3D art for scientific journals (Journal Covers, Graphical Abstracts, Journal Figures), and also for Websites, Banners, and others.
My workflow goes as follows:
- We'll discuss your idea/project, deadline etc.
- Once I understand the work, I'll make you an offer
Once the job starts:
- I'll create a 3D layout and we'll work on it to organize things visually (here we can discuss things and make big changes)
- Once it's approved, I'll work to get the best illustration for the project
- I'll send a preview of the final image and if everything is ok,
- I'll deliver the image in high-resolution
I prefer to work with at least two milestones: 1st delivery being the approved 3D layout and 2nd the final delivery.
This usually works well for still images, but if you need animations, please contact me!
Most of the topics I cover in my scientific illustrations are related to chemistry and biochemistry but don't hesitate to ask for something from another field.

Hi! My name is Julio and I'm a scientific illustrator with a background in Chemistry. I've been creating 3D illustrations for Covers, Graphical abstracts, article figures, and scientific communication since 2021. I enjoy creating realistic illustrations of chemistry but also for other non-scientific topics, like still life, environment scenes, and procedural modeling.

How many reviews can I ask for?
It depends. Usually the reviews come during process as we work together. I encourage you to ask and describe everything you want during the job. If necessary we can do a call, but the point is to work constructively.
How do I know if I’ll be satisfied with the final image?
We’ll work together from the beginning and every major step will be shared and asked for approval. I always send a preview before the final delivery so we can align expectations and fix minor details.
Can I have the source files at the end of the job?
No, unless we discuss this before we start the job. Since this file (or files) contains all the editable, this cost an additional value.
Can I use the images for commercial purposes?
Yes, but you should request that before we start the job. You can use it for any commercial purpose, but I still own the image.
What if the Journal doesn’t choose my artwork for the Cover? Will you refund me?
Some editors/journals reserve the right to choose the best cover using their own criteria. Because of this I cannot predict if the art will be accepted or not and that’s why I do not refund.
