About this Gig
I will work with you to develop a college essay that addresses the essay prompt chosen AND showcases your strengths, weaknesses, and potential contributions to the institution you are applying to. Admission committees aren't looking for perfection, they are seeking progress and potential growth. Students often search for the perfect essay that will help them "win" in the admission game. Admission committee members can tell when you are not being your authentic self. College application essays fall into two categories:
- Main Essay (a.k.a. the Common Application Essay)
- Supplemental Essay (a.k.a. college/university specific)
Students often confuse the two when writing and end up repeating one or the other. When writing the main essay, I will assist you in staying focused on answering the prompt with a snapshot moment of your life. For the other essay, your response will address points specific to the institution. The end result will be a cohesive, creative, and engaging telling of your story.

Will you write my essay for me?
No, that would be academic dishonesty. I will help you develop your ideas and shape your essay so that it answers the prompt and has your voice.
Why don't you provide proofreading?
There are other professionals who are much stronger in this area than I am, such as your English teacher. My expertise is on the admission side of the application process, not grammar and proofreading. I prefer to be their partner in your college essay process.
Does the essay prompt at the top count in the total word count?
No, it does not. I just need it as a point of reference in order to provide you with the best feedback possible.
What is involved in a brainstorming session?
I will ask you some specific questions about your activities, passion projects, and experiences that have impacted you. Then together, we will "dump" all the potential topics and ideas into a document. Words generated from this session are not included in the total word count.
What if I have multiple essays?
As long as they are within the word count for the package you have purchased you may submit multiple essay prompts.
Can you assist me with non-U.S. colleges and universities?
Yes, I have successfully assisted many students with the UCAS personal statement.
Can I see some of your work?
I'm sorry, but I don't share the essays of my clients because it is their intellectual property. I helped edit and refine their writing. I did not write their essay. Also, every client has their own voice and I will work with you to find yours.
