I will design a dfm ready electronics enclosure around your pcb

About this gig
Hardware enclosures fail for predictable reasons: wrong wall thickness, missing draft, PCB clearance that works on paper but not in assembly. I catch those before your vendor does.
I design electronics and IoT enclosures in Fusion 360, Onshape, and SolidWorks starting from your PCB layout and working outward through every port, fastener, keep-out zone, and assembly constraint so your manufacturer receives geometry ready to quote and build.
Ive delivered 30+ production-ready parts for commercial products, including consumer hardware and automotive DFM work.
I design:
2-part and multi-part enclosures, PCB-fitted housings, IoT shells, port cutouts, standoffs, rails, antenna/thermal clearance, sealed or vented variants, and parts for 3D printing, CNC, or injection molding.
DFM checks include:
wall thickness, draft angles, bosses, ribs, snap-fits, parting lines, undercuts, and PCB/component clearances.
You get:
STEP + STL files, Fusion source files, DFM notes/report, and manufacturer-ready files depending on tier.
Best for startups, IoT teams, product teams, and engineers preparing for prototype or tooling.

FAQ
I don't have a STEP file of my PCB. Can I just send dimensions and photos?
Yes. Send me your board dimensions (length × width), component height profile (tallest component per zone), connector positions, and mounting hole locations. A photo of the board top and bottom helps significantly. Many clients work from Gerber files or a PDF export of their layout — all of these wo
How do I know the enclosure will actually fit my board after it's printed?
I model your PCB envelope and all major components (tallest parts per zone) directly inside the enclosure assembly, then verify clearances with a virtual fit check before delivery. The STEP file includes both enclosure and PCB envelope so you can visually verify the fit yourself in any free CAD view
What is DFM and why does it matter for my enclosure?
DFM stands for Design for Manufacturing — it's the process of checking that your geometry can actually be produced by your target manufacturing method. For injection molding, this means checking draft angles (so the part ejects cleanly), wall thickness (so plastic fills and cools correctly), boss ge
My enclosure needs to be injection molded. Is that different from designing for 3D printing?
Significantly different. Injection molding requires: draft angles on all vertical surfaces, uniform wall thickness (typically 1.2–2.5mm for ABS), bosses designed with gussets and correct height-to-diameter ratio, no undercuts on the pull direction unless you're using side actions, and careful partin
Can you design enclosures with display cutouts, vents, or label recesses?
Yes. Common features I design regularly: display window cutouts with bezel lips, vent slot arrays with DFM-correct widths and depths, label recess zones, rubber gasket channels for basic dust sealing, snap latches, living hinges (3DP only), and cable relief geometry. List your required features when
Will my manufacturer be able to use the files directly?
Yes. STEP is the universal format accepted by all injection molding vendors, CNC shops, and 3D printing services. Premium tier files include a manufacturer-ready package: STEP, STL, PDF drawings with key dimensions, and a DFM report your vendor can reference directly. If your manufacturer raises a g
Can you do the enclosure for a product that already has an industrial design shape — not a rectangular box?
Yes, with some caveats. If you have an existing industrial design (renders, sketches, or a surface model) I can engineer the mechanical enclosure inside that form — adding PCB mounts, snap fits, wall thickness, draft angles, and parting logic.
Do you sign NDAs and how is IP handled?
Yes. I sign NDAs before any project files are shared. Full IP ownership of all delivered files transfers to you on final payment — including source files. I do not retain or reuse client geometry in any form.
