About this Gig
Is your German Shopify store actually GDPR-compliant or just hoping it is?
German authorities issued over 530 million in GDPR fines last year. A single visitor complaint can trigger a formal investigation and "I didn't know" is not a legal defense.
Most store owners assume a cookie banner is enough. It isn't.
Does your store:
Fire Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel before consent?
Load Google Fonts from Google's servers transmitting visitor IPs illegally?
Lack a proper Datenschutzerklärung or correctly formatted Impressum?
If even one applies, you are legally exposed right now.

FAQ
Will my store really get fined if I am not GDPR-compliant?
Germany is the most aggressive GDPR enforcement country in Europe. Fines start at €2,500 for minor violations and competitor complaints are extremely common Authorities act on every one.
I already have a cookie banner. Isn't that enough?
No. If your tracking pixels fire before consent or your privacy policy is a generic template, you are still fully exposed even with a banner showing.
I am not based in Germany. Does GDPR still apply to me?
Yes. If a German customer can buy from your store, German law applies to you — regardless of where you are located.
What is an Abmahnung and should I be worried?
It is a formal legal warning demanding immediate correction plus legal fees, Often €1,000 to €2,500 just for the letter itself. Specialized law firms send them out in bulk across German Shopify stores.
My store looks fine to me. How would I even have violations?
Most violations are invisible to store owners but easily detected by authorities and automated scanning tools — misfiring pixels, external font calls, missing Impressum fields.
Will fixing compliance hurt my store speed or conversions?
Not at all. Done correctly it has minimal impact on performance and often increases buyer trust German customers take data privacy very seriously.
What about the apps installed on my store?
Every app processing customer data is a potential liability. I audit your installed apps and ensure each one is correctly covered in your privacy policy as required by German law.
Do I need a lawyer or is this service enough?
For the vast majority of Shopify stores this service covers everything you need. If your niche is highly regulated I will flag it during the assessment and advise accordingly.
How long does compliance last Is it a one-time fix?
Your setup will be solid long term but any time you add a new app or pixel it needs a quick review. I provide clear guidance on exactly when to update.
What do I need to provide to get started?
Just your store URL and access to your theme and apps. Message me first for a free quick assessment before you spend anything.
