I will beta read your manuscript, no ai involved ever
your book's first honest reader
About this Gig
Hey, I'm Lauren! I read for a living (more or less) and I'm elbow-deep in writing my own novel, so I've got an idea of what it's like on your side of this.
I don't use AI, at any stage. Not to speed-read your manuscript, not to draft the report.
A lot of "beta readers" on here are quietly running books through AI and selling you the output. I'd rather turn a job down than fake it.
What I actually do: read your manuscript properly, cover to cover, and note my real reactions as I go where the pacing dragged, where a character's voice slipped, where I got genuinely hooked.
Then I write it up as a proper feedback report, not a checklist.
What you'll get:
- A full, attentive read by me (not software)
- A written report: plot & pacing, character, voice, honest reader-experience notes
- Specific chapter-by-chapter reactions, not vague generalities
- Feedback that's constructive because I actually want your book to work
Message me first with your word count, genre and what worries you most - I'll tell you honestly if I'm the right fit!

FAQ
Do you use AI at any point in your feedback?
Never. If I used AI, I'd be lying to you about having read your book - and that defeats the entire point of hiring a beta reader in the first place.
What's the difference between a beta reader and an editor?
A beta reader reacts the way a real reader would: what worked, what confused me, where I lost interest. An editor rewrites your sentences. I'm not going to touch your prose - I'm going to tell you how it made me feel.
Will you keep my manuscript confidential?
Yes. Your story doesn't leave this conversation.
Do you read romance?
I read a lot of Romance and Mystery, so if that's your book I'm probably a good fit. Outside that, message me first and I'll tell you honestly if I'm not.
What happens if my manuscript goes over my package's word limit?
Message me first. If it's over, I'll ask you to either upgrade to a bigger package or add the extra words before I start - I always confirm word count against what's been paid for before I begin reading, so there's no confusion for either of us.
Can I ask follow-up questions once I've got my feedback?
That's what the Additional Revision extra is for - two extra days so I can actually sit with your questions instead of rushing a reply. Without it I can't guarantee follow-up messages get answered, so add it upfront if you think you'll want to talk the feedback through afterwards.
