Typically I will need an audio or video sample of the piece you want transcribed, be it attached files or video links. Other details like the portion you need transcribed can be specified in the order page as you proceed. Of course, these can be communicated via messages before you place the order.

For an audio sample containing N instruments, two cases can be considered: (1) transcription requires at most N layers, and (2) more than N. For 1, I write the notes I hear and assign to each instrument accordingly. For 2, I will fill in the additional layers based on detailed harmony analysis.

A Finale file (.musx), an XML file available for import into other music writing softwares (.xml), an audio file (.mp3) and a PDF of the transcription. For ensembles, the audio file sent is an audio recording of all instruments played together, and the PDFs include conductor score and parts scores.
