This gig is for copy editing of romance/historical romance/steamy books.
Examples: Historical Romance, modern romance, fantasy romance, LGBTQ romance.
Is it about love? Then you're at the right place!
Sometimes it's hard to spot errors in your own work. Have you repeatedly started sentences the same? Have you overused adverbs? Too much passive tense? Inconsistences with capitalisation or spellings? A mix of US and UK spellings?
You're so involved in your own writing that these things can easily be missed.
I am offering copy editing for your story.
I will check for readability, repeated and overused words as well as also check for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
This is not line editing. Check out the FAQs for what copy editing is and isn't.
I write historical romance books with a pen name and I love reading all types of romance books.
You will receive two documents back.
One copy showing the tracked changes, and one as a 'clean' version with accepted changes.

FAQ
What's the difference between copy editing and line editing?
Copy editing comes after line editing. Where line editors are concerned primarily with questions of style, copy editors are concerned with mechanics. A copy editor ensures that the language in a manuscript follows the rules of standard English and adheres to the house style guide, if you have one.
What do I edit in the manuscript?
• Grammar/spelling, • consistency of spellings (US/UK), capitalisation, • fixing speech punctuation • checking for words which sound correct but aren’t. • checking changes in tenses. • sharpen clumsy sentences to enhance readability.
What don't I do?
I don't do formatting. I don't do in-depth line editing. I assume (with non-fiction) you know your subject and have ordered information correctly.
What does the author need to do?
Send me the document in an editable format – preferably Word. Not PDF. Make sure that it is as finished as it can be. Have you re read it? Is it OK for sending for final copy editing? Let me know if there is anything I should be aware of or think I will need to pay close attention to.
