About this Gig
My 'day job' is incredibly cerebral, with big clinical words and deep thinking required, so in my 'down time' I like to read light (or dark) romantic novels or novellas.
As part of the beta read, I will look for:
- The opening - does it hook the reader?
- The characters - am I interested in these people? What do I know about them? Can I picture them?
- Locating plot holes - are there things that just don't make sense or are particularly unrealistic
- Flow and pacing - does one scene lead into the next or does it read as if there are scenes missing
- Looking at dialogue - does it flow naturally?
- Identifying inconsistencies
- Evaluating plot twists
- Does the story make me want to read more of your work?
- Spotting repetitive words, excessive use of particular words, overuse of phrases
The standard feedback form has over 30 questions and also provides a summary of thoughts on each chapter.
I read both US and UK English, and am happy to work in either.
Preferred format for reading (basic) is .mobi though I can create my own from PDF if needed.

Super! I like the questionnaire reports Luschke offers. They simplify the process for the beta read and help me keep the focus of the project. They are also encouraging to see what I have done that was enjoyed.. This is the second time of using her services and I will use them again.
