What is DFM Engineering and why do I need it?
DFM stands for Design for Manufacturing. It ensures your 3D CAD model can actually be produced by factories (injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal) without defects like sink marks, stuck molds, or structural failure.
What files will I receive to manufacture my physical prototype?
You will receive print-ready 3D .STL files, universal .STEP CAD files for CNC machining or plastic molding, native editable CAD source files (SolidWorks/Fusion 360), and dimensioned 2D PDF technical drawings.
Can you prepare my CAD file for plastic injection molding?
Yes! I apply required draft angles (1° to 3°), uniform wall thicknesses, structural strength ribbing, core-out sections, and parting line considerations.
What if I have a broken physical part and need a replacement drawn?
Send clear photos of the broken part next to a ruler along with caliper measurements. I will reverse-engineer the broken item into an exact 3D printable STL and editable STEP CAD file.
