A story is only as hooking as the characters living inside it. If your heroes lack depth and your villains lack psychology, the tension dies, and your readers' time is given to other stories.

I won't just create a bland character; I'll build their psyche, their wounds, and their combat or social styles. I give them a lifelike feel, grimacing at words that annoy them, describing how their eyes close or how a smile shifts to favor one side, a dimple showing as they smell a favored dish.

The Silas Strategy: For example, my original character, Silas, didn't start as just a name. I forged his dossier first, mapping out his emotional fractures and habits. Only after his soul was built did I drop him into the tension of my narrative, The View from 4B.
