FAQ
Are you a registered patent agent or attorney?
Yes, I am a registered patent agent with the USPTO. This allows me to represent inventors before the USPTO and directly prepare and file applications.
What's the difference between a provisional and non-provisional application?
A provisional application is a placeholder that establishes your filing date but is not examined. It lasts 12 months. A non-provisional utility application is the full, formal application that undergoes examination to eventually become a granted patent. The Standard package is for a non-provisional
What information do you need from me to get started?
Please see the "Required Buyer Information" section below. Essentially, I need a detailed description of your invention, how it works, how it's made, and how it differs from existing solutions. The more detail, the better.
Do you handle the filing with the USPTO?
My core gig provides the complete, ready-to-file application. I can file it on your behalf as an additional service (for filing fees + service fee) or provide you with the documents to file yourself.
Will you sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)?
Absolutely. Client confidentiality is paramount. I am happy to sign a standard NDA before you disclose any sensitive details about your invention.
Do you perform a prior art search?
A basic prior art search is included in the PREMIUM package. For other packages, it can be added as a custom extra. While highly recommended, it is a separate service from the application drafting itself.
What if the USPTO rejects my application (issues an Office Action)?
Responding to Office Actions is a separate legal service. It is included in the PREMIUM package for the first Office Action. For other packages, I can provide a custom quote for response drafting if needed.
