I will migrate your legacy vb6, fortran, matlab or cpp app to python

About this gig
Have an old program that still works but is hard to use, maintain or trust? I don't just translate it: I work out what it is meant to do, rebuild it in Python, fix inherited logic bugs and give it a modern PyQt6 interface.
What I convert
Calculation scripts, engineering tools, simulators and desktop programs in Visual Basic 6, Fortran, MATLAB/Octave, C++ or Python with tkinter. Simulink models: message me first.
What you get
- Python code with detailed comments on every module and function
- A desktop app: Basic has one main window with a menu bar and up to ~10 fields or buttons; extra screens are $50 each
- Standard and Premium: layout, colors and icons adjusted to your preferences
- Validation against your original (full numeric validation in Premium)
- A list of what I changed and why, plus a structure summary and migration plan
How it works
- Message me your code and goals before ordering
- I confirm scope and the best package
- I deliver the new version
Sizes count logic lines (no comments, blank lines or generated form code) and up to 25, 75 and 250 files. Over 100,000 lines: message me.

FAQ
1. Will the results match my original program?
Yes, when the original runs. Where it doesn’t, or where we agree to fix a bug, I document every difference.
2. Do I need to send working code?
No. If your program is broken or incomplete, I can fix it and make it work as part of the migration. Send it as it is and tell me what isn’t working.
3. Can you convert Simulink models?
Yes, but I need to see the model first. Message me and I’ll quote it.
Can you convert C++ programs or tkinter apps?
Yes. Send me the code before ordering. If your program depends on speed or memory control, I’ll tell you whether Python is a good fit or whether the heavy parts should stay in C++. For tkinter apps, I rebuild the interface in PyQt6 and keep the logic as it is.
5. What does the Basic window include?
One main window with a menu bar and up to ~10 fields or buttons. Menu items that open simple dialogs (open, save, about) are included. Any extra screen with its own fields or functions is $50.
6. Can you add new features?
Premium includes 2. In the other packages, or beyond 2, features are $30 each. Message me first so we agree on the scope.
7. My program is complex (GOTOs, COMMON blocks, global state). Does the price change?
Send me the code before ordering. If it’s more complex than its size suggests, I’ll recommend the right package or quote it separately.
8. What if my program is over 100,000 lines?
Message me for a custom offer. I quote it by module after a first look.
