My name is Maxine, and I will be your handy-dandy, all-inclusive beta reader this evening. I have been a professional proofreader since 2017, and have edited everything from short stories to full-length novels.
I have a sharp eye with keen attention to detail. It's my job to show you what is working for your book, and where I feel it falls short, as well as possible plot holes, loose ends, and a rating breakdown of your book's marketability in terms of publishing successfully.
What I promise to deliver:
- At least 3 pages (depending on the length of your book) of in-depth critique and feedback
- Answers to any questions you have for me as a beta reader
- Identification of possible plot holes and loose ends
- Comprehensive review of what is working for your story and what isn't
- Ratings to assess if your book meets publishing standards

What professional qualifications do you hold?
I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of South Africa, a certificate in Copy-editing and Proofreading from the South African Writers College, as well as having completed a six-month Grammar for Writers course, and a Masterclass in Punctuation.
Do you accept custom offers?
Yes! Custom offers are my favorite. I tailor-make every one of them to suit the client and their budget.
What if I have a really long (100,000+) word book?
That's no problem. I have beta read books up to 300,000 words in a week easily so any length is absolutely fine with me. Just contact me fora custom quote and I'll figure something out that suits your budget!
What makes you a good beta reader?
Firstly, I love reading and started reading from a very early age. Secondly, working as a proofreader for many years, I have a keen eye for details and can easily spot plot holes in stories and things that just don't add up, or make much sense.
