FAQ
Can I get locked out of my own firewall?
No — the whole process is built to prevent it. Console/IPMI access is confirmed first, every change is staged, and a rollback config is kept so you never lose access to your own network.
pfSense or OPNsense — which should I choose?
Both are excellent open-source firewalls. pfSense has the larger community and plugin ecosystem; OPNsense has cleaner UX and faster security updates. I recommend based on your hardware and use case — ask me before ordering.
Can you set up WireGuard for remote work access?
Yes — WireGuard (fastest, modern) or OpenVPN (most compatible) for you or your whole team, phone and laptop configs included.
Will this work on my hardware?
pfSense/OPNsense run on most x86 boxes with 2+ NICs and 1GB+ RAM, or as a VM on Proxmox/ESXi. Send me your hardware details and I will confirm.
Do you configure VLANs with UniFi or managed switches?
Yes — guest/IoT/work segmentation across UniFi, TP-Link, and managed-switch environments, with firewall rules between segments.
What do I get at handover?
Network diagram, hardened config, automatic backup schedule, hardening checklist, and a short guide so you know how it all works.
