What I do:

Line editing, first and foremost. This focuses on the flow of the story, sentence structure, consistency, and fact-checking. This one is often confused for copy editing.

Copy editing comes next, and this is a more in-depth version of proofreading, where typos are fixed, missing words are added, and grammar is fixed. This is the "polishing" step.

Proofreading is last, and this is where it's given one last look to make sure that all mistakes have been caught before being given the green light to either be uploaded or sent to ARC readers.
