About this Gig
What does my service include?
- hyphenation
- proper nouns
- punctuation
- capitalisation
- typos and spelling
- grammar and syntax
- fact-checking
- ensuring consistency in the language and the manuscript (character descriptions, the timeline, place settings, etc.)
- Anglicise/Americanize
When I have finished, I will provide you with four documents:
- Your manuscript, with all of the edits and in-line comments showing
- A clean copy of your manuscript, with every edit already accepted
- A style sheet (a customised list of choices unique to your story)
- An editorial overview
I work the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), the most popular style guide for fiction in the USA. However, I am happy to edit spellings and word choice in American or British English.
I am currently offering a flat fee pricing system: £500 for any manuscript up to 110,000 words.

FAQ
What does your work include?
I use Microsoft Word to provide in-text edits and in-line comments in the margins. I make corrections and I highlight any issues for the author to address. I always create a style sheet and I take two full passes through your manuscript.
What genres do you edit?
I copyedit all genres of fiction, but I specialise in Romance and I am an avid romance reader myself.
Do you work on manuscripts over 110,000 words?
Yes! Please, get in touch and I'll send you a custom order.
What editing tools do you use?
I use Microsoft Word Track Changes. This gives you the choice to view (1) the original copy, (2) one version with all the edits with in-line comments on show, and (3) a polished, completed version.
Do you format documents?
No, I currently do not offer formatting services.
Do you edit copy in American English or British English?
Both! I provide copyediting services in American English and British English.
How should I send my work?
When you place an order, please attach your work in a .doc format.
Are you fluent in English?
Yes! I was born and raised in the UK and I live here, too. I have hold a BA and a MA, I have been an English teacher for over seven years, and now I study editing through the EFA and CIEP.
Do you offer any other services?

Do you use AI to edit?
No. Every author has a unique style and voice, and an editor's job is to enhance this and create the best experience for the reader. A human editor is required to understand nuance, the target audience, the genre expectations, and the wider context.
