FAQ
What software do you use, and what files will I receive?
I create all character designs from scratch in Aseprite. You will receive clean, unblurred PNG files of the character, along with an organized sprite sheet if you order animations. Layered PSD or native .aseprite source files can be included depending on your package.
What native grid sizes or resolutions do you work with?
I work across all classic and modern grid sizes, including 16x16, 32x32, 64x64, and 128x128 pixels. If you are trying to match a specific engine style (like a classic 8-bit NES or a detailed 16-bit RPG), just let me know your target resolution.
How do you upscale the final files? Will they look blurry in my game?
I upscale all final characters and sprite sheets cleanly using Nearest Neighbor scaling (typically 400% or 800%). This ensures your pixel art remains perfectly crisp, razor-sharp, and completely free of modern anti-aliasing blur when imported into your project.
What types of character animations can you create?
I can animate any standard game loop, including Idle, Walk, Run, Jump, Attack, Take Damage, and Death cycles. If your game requires unique movements like climbing, spellcasting, or interacting with objects, we can easily map those out.
How many frames of animation are included per cycle?
A standard, smooth pixel art animation usually ranges from 4 to 8 frames per loop depending on the complexity of the grid size. If your project specifically demands higher frame rates or minimalist 2-frame retro movements, I can adjust the scope accordingly.
Do you design side-scrolling, top-down, or isometric characters?
I design for all perspective layouts! I can build traditional 2D side-scrolling sprites, top-down perspectives (RPG Maker style), or 2.5D isometric configurations for assets, monsters, and characters.
Can you create character variations, color swaps, or armor tiers?
Yes. If you have a base character and need armor upgrades, weapon swaps, or alternative color palettes for player-two designs, message me. I can bundle these as cost-effective variations without charging you for a completely new asset.
Are your character sprite sheets ready to import into game engines?
Absolutely. I format my sprite sheets cleanly with consistent cell dimensions (e.g., a 32x32 character placed perfectly centered inside a grid of 32x32 slices). This makes slicing and setup incredibly fast in engines like Unity, Godot, GameMaker, and Unreal Engine.
Do you design monsters, creatures, or non-human characters?
Yes! Beyond standard human designs, I create fantasy creatures, sci-fi mechs, animals, enemies, bosses, and custom NPCs to flesh out your game world.
Can you match an existing art style if I provide references?
Yes, I can easily adapt to an established art style. Please send over screenshots, reference sheets, or concept art from your current game project so I can seamlessly match your existing pixel grid, shading style, and color choices.
