About this Gig
I will provide a detailed review of your work with constructive feedback on the plot, characters, world-building and style. You will receive a document with my honest feedback on your writing, including what I believe are your areas of strength and where to focus your improvements.
Please let me know if you have any other specific questions you want answered during my read through.
Packages:
- Basic: Reader Magnets / Short Stories: Up to 20,000 words.
- Standard: Novellas: Up to 60,000 words.
- Premium: Novels: Up to 120,000 words.
Incomplete manuscripts are accepted.
It is important to book a beta reader who reads widely in your subgenre. I am your target audience if you write:
- middle grade fantasy
- YA fantasy
- fantasy romance
- cozy fantasy
- fairy tale retellings
- time travel (my absolute favorite!)
I am not your target audience if your book has:
- grim dark fantasy
- explicit SA scenes
- "spicy" romance
Note: I will not provide in-line comments for this gig. This gig focuses on the overall work as opposed to individual line editing.

Why should I choose you to beta read my book?
Great question! My mom was a librarian, so I grew up reading constantly, especially fantasy novels! My physics masters degree made me detail oriented, and my time as a teacher taught me to identify areas of strength and weakness. I'm also very encouraging and supportive - I want you to succeed!
Do you use AI?
No AI is used to read your work, and all comments and feedback are my own work. You can trust that you are getting honest impressions from a real human reader!
Can I suggest my own questions?
Yes! While I have a set of questions that I work from when providing feedback, I am open to receiving your input on areas of focus so that you can feel confident in your progress. Any questions can be sent to me before I begin.
Can I send you an unfinished draft?
Yes, sometimes you need a beta read to decide which direction to take your novel. If you do, please include notes listing the contents of any scenes that aren't written yet.
What are your favorite fantasy novels?
Some of my favorites include: The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor The Skin Map by Steven R. Lawhead Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher The Merlin TV series gets an honorable mention, even though it's not a book!
What tropes do you love?
I absolutely love time travel! I enjoy fantasy books with a little bit of romance added in - makes the stakes so much higher! The price for winning or self-fulfilling prophecy tropes are thought provoking. And I love when a character learns that they can do harder things than they ever realized.
