About this Gig
I will provide a detailed review of your work with constructive feedback on the plot, characters, setting, style and prose. You will receive a document with my honest thoughts and feedback on your writing which includes what I believe are your areas of strength and where to focus your improvements.
Please let me know if you have any other specific questions you want answered during my read through.
Packages:
- Basic: Reader Magnets / Short Stories: Up to 20,000 words.
- Standard: Novellas: Up to 50,000 words.
- Premium: Novels: Up to 100,000 words.
Incomplete manuscripts are accepted.
It is important to book a beta reader who reads widely in your subgenre. I am your target audience if you write:
- cozy mystery
- spy thrillers
- historical mystery
- romantic suspense
- gothic mystery
- middle grade / YA mystery
I am not your target audience if your book contains:
- graphic SA or sexual content
- graphic violence
Note: I will not provide in-line comments for this gig. This gig focuses on the overall work as opposed to individual line editing.

Do you use AI?
No AI is used to read your work, and all comments and feedback are my own work. You can trust that you are getting honest impressions from a real human reader!
Do you provide in-depth line edits?
No, this gig focuses on broad developmental edits of your novel. While I include brief remarks on your overall writing style and its effectiveness, I do not provide in-depth line edits of your prose.
Do you accept unfinished manuscripts?
Yes! Sometimes you need a beta reader early on in your work to help you decide which way to take the story. When submitting an unfinished draft, please summarize your thoughts on any scenes you still want to add.
Can I send you my own questions?
Absolutely! While I still use my template as a base to make sure I cover all aspects of your work, sending me individualized questions to consider helps me provide the most useful feedback.
What are your favorite mystery novels?
The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin is a classic! The Last Equation of Isaac Severy by Nova Jacobs combines my love of academia with mystery. Everyone in My Family has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson is incredibly humorous.
Will you read my manuscript if I used AI?
No, I typically do not read manuscripts written by AI, as my feedback would be to have a human rewrite the manuscript. If the work submitted is clearly AI generated, I reserve the right to cancel the order. Thanks for understanding!
