About this Gig
Post frame builders and suppliers need embedded posts and footings sized for the actual loads and soil at the site. I prepare the foundation calculations for pole barns and post frame buildings.

How I work:
I follow ASCE 7, the NDS, IBC Section 1807.3 and ASAE/ANSI EP486.1. If you have a soil report I use its values. If not, I use IBC presumptive values and state them.

- Building location (county and state)
- Building width, length and eave height
- Post size and spacing
- Soil report and local frost depth, if available
Scope:
This is unsealed engineering support. It carries no PE stamp and is not a permit approval. Stamp coordination through a licensed partner is available as a separate paid add-on. Truss design, whole-building calculations, soil testing and site visits are included.

Are the calculations stamped by a licensed PE?
No. This gig is unsealed engineering support. If your building department requires a sealed set, message me before ordering. PE stamp coordination through a licensed partner is a separate paid add-on.
What do I need to send to get started?
Building location (county and state), building width, length and eave height, post size and spacing, and any soil report or local frost depth requirement you have.
Do I need a soil report?
No. Without one I use the IBC presumptive soil values and state them in the calculations. A soil report gives site-specific values, so send it if you have one.
What footing types do you size?
Embedded posts with concrete collars or backfill in every package. Pad or bracketed footing alternatives are included in the Full Foundation Set, or you can ask me before ordering.
Will my building department accept these calculations?
I cannot guarantee approval, since requirements vary by jurisdiction. Many offices require a sealed set from an engineer licensed in that state. Ask your office what it requires, then message me.
