Hello,
I am a math teacher, and I am available to tutor you or your child. I have been certified to teach from elementary to high school.
My teaching style is laid back and fun. I love numbers and want my students to enjoy the time they spend with me.
There are many words that are used to describe "teaching styles." The best words to describe my style is student-centered (it's all about YOU), student-led (this is your time), coached learning. I will guide you to do it right and then cheer like crazy when you can do it on your own.
Mostly, I use the EDGE method of teaching. EDGE stands for Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. I will give examples as I explains how and why you are doing the current topic in your math course. I will guide you through doing it yourself. Then cheer you on as you do it yourself. I also love to provide "what's wrong" type of questions. When you can find the error, you truly are understanding the concept!

What ages/grades do you tutor?
I tutor students from 3rd grade through 1st year of college. I also teach adults who want to prepare for their GED or ASVAB tests.

Elementary math (grades 3 – 6) Middle School math (grades 7 – 9) High School math (grades 10 – 12) Pre-Algebra Algebra 1 Algebra 2 Geometry Trigonometry Pre-Calculus 1st Level College (Algebra, Math, Trigonometry) Test Prep (GED, ASVAB, PSAT, SAT, … ) – Math portion only
Do you tutor test prep?
Yes. I can you prepare with standardized test prep including the math sections of the SAT, ACT, GED, ASVAB, and many more.
Is online tutoring as effective as in-person?
Yes. It allows students to get tutoring in their own homes where they feel comfortable and are free of distractions.
Is there in-person tutoring available?
No. At this time, I only tutor online, one-on-one. Primarily we will use Zoom, accessed here on Fiverr.
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to communicate with the student or their parents to determine a best day and time for our first class and exchange contact information. I routinely ask these questions: 1. What topic are you currently studying? 2. What was your grade on the last test? 3. Any special needs or concerns?
What types of students have you worked with?
Some of my accomplishments include helping a grandmother earn her GED, a mother earn her MBA, and several young men and women prepare for the ASVABs (military entry test). You can be the next success story!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a math tutor?
Look for a tutor who can not only help you score good grades, but also improve your confidence, build your mathematical foundation, provide supplemental work, tailor lessons per your needs, find you new challenges, bring a fresh new perspective in math learning, and make math more interesting.
