About this gig
I specialise in creating custom fantasy maps for books, D&D campaigns, and any other creative projects you have in mind. Whether you have a rough sketch and/or a detailed description of the features you want to include, or an idea for a world that you'd like me to create, Ill treat each map as if it were my own, bringing your vision to life with attention to detail and a personal touch.
There are three service tiers based on the amount of time and detail required for each map. The more intricate your world, the longer the creation process. To help guide you, my portfolio includes examples of maps from different tiers. If you're unsure which option best suits your needs, feel free to reach out, and Ill be happy to provide a custom quote based on your project.

About me:
I'm a fantasy cartographer and author from the UK. I also have a Masters degree specialising in making geographical maps so I have a good understanding of combining geographical knowledge with the artistic flair needed for a fantasy map. I draw my maps digitally using Procreate on an iPad.

My name is Melissa, and I’m a freelancer from Yorkshire, U.K. With a Master’s degree in Cartography (G.I.S. and Remote Sensing) from Aberystwyth University, I specialise in creating custom fantasy maps for books, games, and world-building projects.
As a fantasy author myself, I understand the importance of bringing a world to life, whether through detailed maps for your story or immersive settings for your game.

FAQ
What file type will my map be?
You can choose from either a JPEG, PDF, PNG or TIFF file. My standard file type is PNG, but you can also ask for any of the others. I create my maps using Procreate.
Will it be a black and white or colour map?
As standard, I offer either a plain white, or a textured greyscale or sepia background. But if colour is something you’re looking for, it is available to add as an extra to the order. You will receive two final maps. I have examples of previous maps in both my sample gig images and portfolio.
What will the final image quality and size be?
Unless you specify differently, the image size will be 6600 x 5100 pixels and at 300dpi resolution. Just let me know if you need certain dimensions. The largest size I can go up to is roughly A1 paper size before image may start to decrease.
Can I use your map in my book/D&D game/project?
Yes! All my maps come with commercial use for whatever you need. If you’d like to add me in the acknowledgments that would be fine too!
Can you provide vector images?
No, I can only work with raster files. My standard image size is roughly A3 and it can shrink down eg for a book with no issue. If you’re looking for a file that you can resize easily for a logo etc I can provide a tiff file that you could convert to a vector file eg if you have access to Photoshop.

Melissa took a list of rooms and a vague description of a summer palace and turned it into the Seelie Court of legend. The little details, such as adding secret passages and the beautiful decorations, really added to the immersion. She even added in details that I forgot to add more function in world-building.
