FAQ
Why should I upgrade to PHP 8?
Older versions no longer receive security updates, many hosts are dropping them, and PHP 8 is meaningfully faster. Staying on PHP 5 or 7 is a growing risk.
Will my site go down during the upgrade?
I work on a staging copy whenever one is available, so downtime is minimal. If there's no staging site, I schedule the switch at your quietest hour.
How do I find my current PHP version?
Check your cPanel under "Select PHP Version", or just send me your site URL and I'll tell you.
What if my code is too old to upgrade?
Very old code sometimes needs partial rewriting. The Audit package tells you exactly that before you commit to anything larger.
Can you guarantee a specific load time?
No, and I'd be careful of anyone who does. Results depend on your code, hosting and traffic. I'll tell you what's realistic after the audit.
What if something breaks after the upgrade?
I keep the backup and test every page before delivery. If an issue appears that's related to my work, I fix it free.
