What exactly is a beta read?
A beta read is a reader's honest response to your manuscript before it's published. I read as a real reader would and tell you what's working, what's confusing, what's losing momentum, and what kept me hooked.
How is this different from editing?
Beta reading is a reader's perspective, not a grammar or line edit. I focus on how the story feels — pacing, characters, plot logic, emotional impact — not spelling or sentence structure.
What genres do you read?
I specialize in fantasy and sci-fi but am happy to read general fiction, thriller, romance, and most other genres. Message me if you're unsure — I'll let you know if your genre is a good fit.
What format should I send my manuscript in?
Google Docs or a Word document (.docx) works best. This lets me leave inline comments directly on your manuscript for the Standard and Premium tiers.
How do I know my word count?
In Google Docs go to Tools > Word Count. In Word it shows in the bottom bar. If you're between tiers, message me and I can advise which package fits best.
Will you spoil my story to anyone?
Never. Your manuscript is completely confidential. I do not share, discuss, or reproduce your work in any way.
Do you do series or just standalone books?
Both! For series, I recommend starting with book one. If you need feedback on later books, message me so I can read in order if needed.
What does the feedback document look like?
Basic: a short written summary. Standard: a structured doc with section-by-section notes. Premium: a full report covering all story elements plus inline comments on your manuscript.
Can I request a second pass after I revise?
Yes! Add the Second Pass add-on at checkout. This is a re-read after you've made edits, so I can confirm the changes land the way you intended.
What if my manuscript is longer than 80,000 words?
Add the Extra Words add-on for words beyond the package limit. Message me first so I can confirm availability for very long manuscripts.
