How can accent reduction help me?
Accent reduction gives a boost of confidence and control in everyday life and work-related situations. Why? Because you become more aware of the sounds, tone, stress and intonation patterns native speakers use. What’s more, you start using them yourself, so everyone can understand you effortlessly
What are accent reduction classes with you like?
1. I evaluate your current accent (click for instructions https://cutt.ly/lmiWmrR) and we meet and discuss your key priorities 2. In class, we work on one accent feature at a time using specially designed materials 3. You practice between classes and send me recordings for detailed feedback
What happens when classes with you are over?
4. You start applying the new features in low-risk non-demanding contexts (such as chatting with a friend or ordering pizza) 5. Gradually, the new features become part of how you speak. I equip you with all the necessary resources, so you can keep improving on your own after the classes are over
Why should I hire you as an accent coach?
Because I’m all about efficiency. I have an extensive business background and think accent reduction is a service that must bring results. No vague instructions from me – only first-language specific actionable feedback on ALL accent contributors: stress/intonation, linking, pronunciation, and voice
What are your experience and credentials?
I completed an in-depth instructor training program with Ann Cook’s American Accent Training (a bestseller for sounding more American!). I’m ColorVowel and TESL Canada-certified. I have experience teaching accent reduction with Ann Cook, corporate experience and a Master’s degree in Global Economics
Are you a native speaker of English?
No, and it is my advantage as a coach (feel free to watch my video to hear how I sound!). Having immigrated to North America as an adult, I excelled at my own accent reduction and see very clearly how different accent and voice features vary across languages. This means I can explain them well, too
