About this Gig
Hello, my name is Bruno. I've worked as an editor and proofreader for several published authors, having edited over a dozen books and beta-reading hundreds of novels.
YA fantasy and sci-fi are my favorite genres to read, but I've worked with most genres.
If Sample-line Editing Extra is requested, I will always look for ways to preserve your identity as a writer, aiming to help you convey your meaning in the best possible way to improve readability. I use MS Word Tracked Changes and in-line Comments to better explain any changes I believe should be made, if there are any, with simple and easy annotation.
Once I'm finished, I will send you two files, one with the suggestions (Sample-Line editing Extra) and the second is where I'll give my thoughts, looking for inconsistencies within the work, revising and reviewing the overall plot arcs to determine what material is most likely to please readers and possible plot holes.

Do you do custom quotes?

I saw you have another gig for translation, how does that work?
Basically, just go to my profile and click on my second gig. I'm better at transcreating from Portuguese to English, but either way is fine. I can do all sorts of translations, from abstracts for college papers to self-help books. Just send me a message if you have any questions =)
Do you work on non-fiction?
Yes, though I stray away from religious non-fiction, as I don't believe I have a good enough knowledge and experience with those works to accurately assess them.
What about self-help books?
I've worked on many in the past, including for translation and dubbing, and I'm more than experience dealing and analyzing them.
Do you do line-editing?
Yes, but only on my developmental editing gig. In general, for the first chapters, I tend to enjoy doing it as a free extra, but not for every gig and it's only when the mood strikes, during beta gigs.
I have a book about Brazillian culture. Is that something you could help me with?
Definitely! I've had a few authors who specifically contacted me for such reason, and I'm always glad to help out and provide my unique insights, to accurately portray my country's culture.
What genres you won't do?
By now, I believe I've worked with all genres. From smutty romances to gritty and dystopic existential horror. Personally, I'm not fond of horror or crime novels, which tend to bore me, I'm also not a big fan of biographies, as those are much harder to simply comment on anything past grammar.
