What is a Custom ROM
Custom ROM's are firmware's that are created by popular developers around the world for specific devices. Stock ROM are the firmware created by the manufacturer of the device
What is Custom recovery
Recovery is a feature that can help us install android updates or do factory reset. Stock recovery has only limited options for the end user. But Custom Recovery like TWRP, OrangeFox ,SkyHawk, etc has many more options like Backup ,restore ,flashing custom firmware ,Wipe, and more
BootLoader
Bootloader is the first thing that starts when you boot the phone, it helps the device to load necessary files to boot the device. And by default it can only boot verified boot image from the manufacture. So to boot unofficial/custom images the bootloader must be unlocked.
